“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”

– Henry Miller

Ethiopians are known for their exceptional hospitality, and the Cherokee House team lives up to their reputation.  They work hard to keep you comfortable, well-fed and safe.  Guests live in community, eating meals together and debriefing about their daily experiences.  Using the Cherokee House as home base, you will take public transportation to get around the city.

We are located in a safe neighborhood on the west side of Addis (added bonus is our neighbor, a police station) in a city already known for being one of the safest in Africa.

The sleeping arrangements are dorm style with bunk beds and shared restrooms and can accommodate up to twenty guests.  Single rooms are available for a small number of short-term visitors.  Laundry service and two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) are included.

Please Note:  Cherokee House is NOT a guesthouse open to the general public.  Cherokee Gives Back must approve all short and long-term guests as part of the Cultural Awareness and Leadership or Business Exploration and Assistance Programs before their arrival at the Cherokee House.
